Inland Investment in Egypt
• Investment Regimes in Egypt
Your project in Egypt, from incorporation onwards
Under the inland investment regime, the company deals with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) through the Investor Services Center, both at incorporation and for subsequent procedures. We handle the matter with you from the first step: choosing the right legal form, preparing the documents and following the procedures through to the start of operations, then whatever the company needs afterwards.
• What we review before we start
- The right legal form for the project and its partners.
- The activity, and whether it requires a licence or special approval.
- The general and special incentives that may apply to the project.
- Land or premises requirements, where the activity needs them.
• What our support covers
How we work with you
- Incorporating the company or opening branches through the Investor Services Center.
- Approving board and general assembly minutes.
- Increasing capital and changing the activity.
- Liquidation procedures when the project ends.
• Points to consider
Before incorporation
- Some activities require licences or permits. GAFI, in coordination with the competent authorities, issues guides setting out their conditions and procedures, which are updated periodically.
- Special incentives are subject to conditions, including that the company is newly established and does not use the assets of an existing company, so the structure should be reviewed before incorporation, not after.
- The exemption of incorporation contracts from stamp tax and notarisation and registration fees is limited to five years from registration in the commercial register.
The information on this page is based on the GAFI website and its Investment Incentives Guide (September 2025 update), and should be checked against the official texts before any decision is made.

• FAQs
Common questions before incorporation
Do general incentives apply to inland investment projects?
According to GAFI’s Investment Incentives Guide, general incentives apply to projects governed by the Investment Law, except free zone projects. We review how they apply to each project based on its activity and conditions.
Can the company be amended after incorporation?
Yes. The Investor Services Center handles opening branches, increasing capital, changing the activity and approving board and general assembly minutes.
Does the activity need a licence before operations begin?
That depends on the activity. GAFI, in coordination with the competent authorities, issues guides setting out the conditions and procedures for licences and permits, and we review what applies to your activity before incorporation.
